to the American Cancer Society, cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States, second only to heart disease. Approximately 569,000 people are expected to die from cancer in the U.S. in 2010. The five-year survival rate of cancers diagnosed in 1999-2005 is up 68 percent from 1975-1977. There are many causes of cancers, including tobacco smoking, radiation, sunlight, certain viruses, Benzene and other chemicals. However, not everyone who smokes or is exposed to radiation, etc. will get cancer. The cause of many cancers remains unknown.
